LINIT - the glass idea

LINIT glass concept

Thanks to its cross-sectional shape, LINIT U-profiled glass has excellent load-
bearing capacities in comparison with flat glass sheets, which means that it
can be installed in very considerable lengths (up to 7 m, depending on the
design loads, wind, snow etc.) without transverse bracing.

LINIT U-profiled glass has such high static strength that side braces can usu-
ally be avoided. The result is a facade which provides a maximum of glass
and a minimum of frame profile.
LINIT U-profiled glass is manufactured in seven basic types, the dimensions
of which differ from the U-profile. Furthermore there are four different surface
finishes available.
LINIT special glasses, with divergent glass thickness, web widths, and flange
heights can be produced in special productions, depending on special design re-
quirements, from a certain order size (our Application Technology Department
will be happy to advise you).

Production

LINIT U-profiled glass is produced by combining sand, lime and soda and care-
fully recycled glass materials which pass through a modern computer controlled
oxygen-fired glass furnace to emerge as a ribbon of high quality molten glass.
The world´s first oxygen-fired cast glass furnace makes sure that Lamberts´
glass is the world´s most environmentally-friendly cast glass at the moment.
The molten glass ribbon is drawn over a series of specially designed steel rol-
lers to form a continuous glass channel of specific sectional dimensions and
surface finish. The endless ribbon of U-profiled glass is then carefully cooled
and cut prior to final quality control and packaging for despatch.
